My parents were here for 2 short weeks. I always feel like the cavalry has arrived when they visit. Somehow their visits are divinely scheduled - while I'm at my wit's end, feeling lonely and needing a break. And then - ta da! - they appear, swoop in and save the day!
My mom has no qualms about fixing dinners and playing endlessly with the kids while I sit slack-jawed on the couch.
My dad has no qualms about educating me on good looking steaks at Basha's nor does he have any qualms purchasing said good-looking steaks to put in our freezer.
We were treated to many meals out, many mom-made meals in, lots of good talks and walks and visits, lots of joking, a run to Sonic, lots of errand-running and a big ol' Costco shopping spree to get our food-storage to a respectable level.
Most of all, I had two of my very best friends 24/7 for 2 whole weeks! But alas, all good things must come to an end (what a terrible saying!) and now the house is extra quiet. I've taken to cooking our meals and running errands without an entourage. The kids are lonely without their grandparents. Games were played, books were read, computer games were mastered, playing "kitchen" and "barn"were a staple during a day. But now we're back to the old boring routine.
They'll be back though . . . in two months!

Awww, I used to always know when your parents were in town. Now I don't find out until after the fact. :(.
Glad they came, sorry they left but YAY they'll be back so soon!
That sounds like a lot of fun. Now you have something to look forward too. Only two months to go! Maybe you could make a paper chain to count down the days.
Sorry!!! We were talking about you today...wondering with your Mom when you would be here! We are looking forward to having you and the kids around to spice up our lives!
It's always so fun to have visitors, and then when they leave you feel like, "now what?" At least you have a small break to gear up for next time!
What awesome parents you have. It is so hard to live away from home sometimes. I'm so glad you had a chance to have some company and take a little rest from the making dinner chores and what not.
You always leave the nicest comments on my blog. So I thought I should let you know that I'm not the genius behind the sandwich ka bob idea. I saw that ideas months ago as an idea of how to switch up your kids lunches, but I didn't think it was the greatest idea to send a pointy stick to school in my kids lunh box. So I'm just now getting around to actually doing it with them. Any time you see something cool on my blog there's a 90% chance I stole that idea from somewhere els(:
