My headaches are back. Not my usual daily ones - but the debilitating knock-me-out ones. For the past four days I've been blindsided by these headaches. I've been fairly non-functional. There will be moments when the pain lets up for a little bit. That's when I'll run around getting things done before I get knocked on my bum again.
Tonight, as I was in bed it was just getting so bad. Chris suggested I take some Excedrin Migraine. I hesitated because it does contain aspirin - which upsets my stomach. But I was desperate, so I took some.
And here I am - 2:30 AM, my headache isn't as bad, but my stomach isn't very happy. In fact, it downright hurts and I can't sleep because of it.
I need to do something about all of this. I've researched, read books, scoured the internet, been to various doctors, been to herbalists, had CT scans, MRIs, x-rays, changed my diet, been on various crazy-inducing migraine medicine, exercised, etc. And nothing has helped.
So, starting tomorrow (I mean today), I am going to attempt an elimination diet. Now, I've done this to varying degrees over the years, but without much luck. However I've only done it here and there. A lot of my research has found that there are quite a few headache triggers in the diet - the biggest being dairy, wheat and sugar. Today I will cut those things out for at least a month and see where that gets me.
This is going to be very difficult for me. What is there left to eat once you get rid of dairy, wheat and sugar? Seriously.
Wish me luck. Have an understanding heart if I tend to flake out on stuff.

Oh Roccy!!!! I'm so sorry to hear that the headaches are back. But at least you can have fruit, right? I mean can you have the natural sugars? If so I will bring you a big bowl of yummy fruit! if not, then I'm drawing a blank too!
That's a tough, tough diet for sure. Even though I've lived it (for Cooper) for a LONG time, I don't have too many "recipes" to share. I found it easier to find odds and ends to fix for him instead of a whole dish to mix together. Not exciting news for you, sorry. I WILL say, shop at Sprouts. A LOT. They have excellent gluten-free options, which will eliminate the wheat for ya. That's the hardest one in my opinion.
Oh! I did invent a little pumpkin-oatmeal pancake that he really seemed to love. If you want to have Agave Nectar instead of syrup, you might like that??? Let me know and I'll give ya the details on that one.
Praying for you.
Oh, migraines are horrible! Rob tends to get them every so often (his are caused by stress). They seriously knock him out. That's awful you've had them so consistently! I have heard that your diet does make a big difference. My SIL used to get them all the time and then she read the book "Eat Right for Your Blood Type" and started following that and they went away. Who knows though. Good luck!
I'm sorry Roccy. I hate headaches... looks like you'll be eating lots of fruits, vegetables, rice, corn chips/tortillas, etc. I think I could get rid of one of those things, but all three at once would be hard. Good luck.
Maybe your brain is too big for your head, ever thought of that? :)
Yucky! I'm sorry that your "bad" headaches are back. I hope that you are able to find some relief with your diet experimentation. Let me know if I can help in any way!!!
I'm so sorry Roccy. I wish I had the magic solution for you. In all you do, make sure you get a blessing too.
